PROJECTS
Mentoring Program
Female mentors provide each young girl with support, counsel, friendship, reinforcement and constructive example. Our Mentors are required to commit to the program for a minimum of one year and spend four to six hours per month with their mentee, serve as a role model to enhance knowledge and self-awareness on such issues as self-esteem, self image, relationship building, career choices and much more.
1
Building Schools
By intervening early in the lives of little girls to provide educational opportunities, the socioeconomic conditions of families, communities and even countries are greatly improved. There are 130 million school-age girls around the world who do not attend school, and 33 million fewer girls than boys in primary school.
The benefits of changing that are undeniable. While our primary goal is to help girls, the schools we raise money to build are co-ed and our events and programs are geared to both boys and girls. We believe that strong female role models of every age help erase gender stereotypes and lay the groundwork for long-lasting equality.
2
FIGHTING PERIOD POVERTY
Lack of access to affordable menstrual products is a global problem. Across the world, an estimated 100 million young girls lack access to adequate menstrual products. Without access to these products, many students miss school or drop out entirely during their period. In Sub-Saharan Africa, one in 10 students miss school during their period. Having a period shouldn’t have to cost a student their education. by Supporting Marimad Angels, we will able to purchase materials for washable period packs, collect and distribute donated period products, provide much needed menstrual hygiene management education and be at the heart of policy-influencing discussions surrounding period poverty.
